Situated only 30 minutes from Perpignan, near the villages of Joch and Vinca and within easy reach of Prades and Ille-sur-Tet, Mas Saurine is a Catalan farmhouse dating from 1840 which has been lovingly restored over the past few years to give comfortable modern accommodation whilst retaining its charm and character.  Approached by a quiet country lane, with stunning views of Mount Canigou and other mountain ranges in the distance, it provides a relaxing atmosphere for artists to work and meet like-minded people.  

In the stone barn there is a fully-equipped painting studio where Carolynn runs residential and non-residential painting courses for artists of all abilities.  Complete beginners are welcome. Field trips are also made to the many superb painting locations in the area.  Accommodation is in comfortable bedrooms in the Mas and the Farmhouse adjacent to the studio.   Your hosts, Carolynn and Robert, serve delicious meals with generous quantities of Roussillon wines. You can work off those extra kilos in our 10 x 5 metre pool or borrow a bike to take for a ride. Maurice, our terrier,loves to show guests his favourite walks.

The breathtaking scenery and wonderful light inspired artists such as Manet, Picasso, Soutine, and Salvador Dali. Everywhere you turn there is something to paint and many of our guests return each year to paint the things they didn’t get round to the year before.
